Perspective on Gregory Sacking
Football League - "The View from 'The Championship' - ITV Sport's Matt Smith calls on Championship chairmen to back their managers."
"...John Gregory was sacked by QPR this week, presumably because the new owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone fancied a different 'formula.' But are 7 games really enough to form a definitive judgement?
"I'm sure Gregory would refuse to make too many excuses for QPR's poor start to the season, certainly not the tragic death of the young striker Ray Jones. But people within the club tell me he dealt with that awful time like a leader of men, sensitively balancing the wishes of Ray's family with the needs of his players. That said, the new owners have taken their decision and are hardly likely to change their mind. What they can do is find a new manager, then support him properly and patiently...." Football League

Town have yet to settle an outstanding £900,000 Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) bill.
The Inland Revenue, are also believed to be losing patience by the minute and could issue a winding-up order on the club at any time.
And a High Court judgement over the £1.2m pumped into the club by for QPR chairman Bill Power last year is expected on November 9.
In addition, the Football League are also watching the situation, with the threat of a 15-point deduction looming large.
Town also owe Coca-Cola League One rivals Cheltenham Town £25,000 for their share of the gate money from their clash at Whaddon Road in August - but are believed to be intending to settle that and other football-related' debts next week....
