Birmingham Forward Vine Joins QPR on Month Loan

-
UPDATE; October 3 - Vine Deal Could be Permanent

Birmingham Mail: "BLUES boss Steve Bruce has admitted that Rowan Vine's one-month loan to QPR could turn into a permanent deal...
"It's a month to start with," said Bruce. "As for a permanent transfer, it could be. We've left that option open. It's just about him getting some football at the moment."...
"A lot of the Championship clubs are scouring for people who are not in first teams, like we did last year.
"We used it to good effect. "Now I've got to look at it from the other side of things because players like Viney want to go and play.
"If the rules were different and allowed you to recall them instantly I think a few would have been allowed out on loan because they would be getting valuable match practice.
"The hardest thing for any seasoned pro is to play in the reserves, for obvious reasons.
"Viney will get six games in - we haven't got a game after Blackburn Rovers for a fortnight - and we just decided it would be the best thing for him, and us.
"We will monitor him and see how he goes. Hopefully he will score a few goals again and it will do him some good." Birmingham Mail

QPR Official Site EXCLUSIVE: ROWAN'S A RANGER
Queens Park Rangers have completed the emergency loan signing of Birmingham City front-man Rowan Vine.
The 25 year-old signed a one month loan deal this afternoon and is expected to go straight into the R's squad for Wednesday's Championship fixture against Colchester United.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Vine said: "The major factor for me was the opportunity to stake a claim for a first team spot.
"I've been surplus to requirements at Birmingham and this is a fantastic opportunity for me."
Vine worked with Mick Harford during his time at Luton Town and the former Hatters striker has nothing but admiration for the R's new Caretaker Manager.
"Obviously knowing Mick was a big pull. He knows what I can do as a player and it's up to me to produce the goods," said Vine.
"He's a great coach and a good man and I'm looking forward to working with him again."
On the subject of tomorrow's trip to Layer Road, Vine added: "I know Layer Road like the back of my hand after my time there and what better place to start.
"I'm here to do a job for QPR and I can't wait to pull on the shirt.
"I've always had a lot of admiration for QPR fans. They are a passionate bunch and I've always enjoyed playing in front of them."
Vine joined Blues from fellow Championship side Luton Town in January 2007 for a substantial but undisclosed fee.
During his time at St Andrews, Vine has been used sparingly and has made a total of 19 appearances, scoring one goal.
His two appearances for the Blues so far this season have both come in League Cup fixtures.
Vine, who scored against the R's for Luton in an FA Cup third round tie at Loftus Road last season, will wear squad number 26. QPR

Birmingham Official Site - VINE JOINS RANGERS
Blues striker Rowan Vine has today joined Championship side Queens Park Rangers on a one month emergency loan deal.
Vine will remain with Rangers until November 3.
The 25-year-old, who moved to Blues from Luton Town last January, has found his chances somewhat limited at St. Andrew's.
To date he has made just 19 appearances and scored a solitary goal.
Both of his starts for Blues this season have come in League Cup games.
Rangers are currently struggling at the bottom of the Championship with just three points from their opening seven League fixtures and manager John Gregory was sacked this week after seeing his side soundly beaten 5-1 by West Brom at the weekend.
Rangers coach and former Blues striker Mick Harford has taken temporary over as caretaker manager at Loftus Road. Birmingham

NB: From a Fan Site ('WeAreTheRangersBoys')September 11 Interview with QPR Chairman Paladini,
(Q) What about Vine and Clements?
(Answer) would you pay £55,000 a week for Clement or £75,000 a week for Vine?. They want assurances that we buy these players in January now. Thats how much it works out. As it stands I would rather not do the deal for these players
What if, we don't want to keep them, what if they don't fit in. I am inclined not to do them. The whole ball game has changed now, teams know we are the richest club in the championship and they are trying to get more money from us. I know karen Brady well, she is my neighbour, but we won't do this deal. Interview
