"Setanta Sports pundit Les Ferdinand has confirmed his desire to help rescue his old club Queens Park Rangers.
'Sir Les', as he was christened by the Loftus Road faithful, has responded to speculation in the morning press that he was interested in filling the vacant manager's position.
"QPR will always have a place in my heart," he said, "I would consider going back in any capacity in order to help the club move forward."
QPR are currently bottom of The Championship, without a win and a defence that is leaking goals. John Gregory paid the price for the poor start with his job... Release

YET again, foreign owners think they know how a football club should be run.
John Gregory was sacked as QPR boss on Monday, despite saving the cash-strapped club from relegation last season against all the odds.
The west London club are still waiting for a cash injection from proposed new owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, but Gregory was not given the chance to benefit from that.
Instead, he did the best he could with few resources and after the tragic death of young striker Ray Jones.
Of course, that is not good enough for some, and again the game has lost a good manager who should have been given time rather than his P45. Daily Star
