Leigh Journal/November 28 - Helguson loan deal done at last
- QPR will be given the option of signing Heidar Helguson after finally completing a loan move for the wantaway striker.
- The Championship club have agreed terms to take the Iceland international until mid-January.

- Helguson has made just two appearances for Wanderers all season and was told by Gary Megson that he was not in his first-team plans. Should the deal be officially completed by the end of business today, he could make his Hoops debut tomorrow against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
- “It is not a criticism of QPR but I do feel a bit sorry for Heidar at the moment,” Megson explained. “The deal has been on, it has been off, it has been unbelievable.
- “But now I understand that the deal is back on and they have the option of signing him at the end of January.”

- Megson has stepped-up his search for players but ruled out any move for highly-rated Hapoel Petach Tikva striker Shimon Abu Hazeira.
- Worried about the size of his squad, the Whites boss admits he is under pressure to bring in signings in the new year.
“It’s been a worry and we’re getting close towards the window now,” he said. “The numbers in the squad have got to come up, but it’s got to be quality numbers as well. We don’t want to just bring players in for the sake of it.
“We won’t get through the second half of the season with the squad at the size it is at the moment.
“We know names of players we would like to bring in, but it’s not always that simple. It’s harder bringing players in during January than it actually is in July.” Leigh Journal
