- Crystal Palace take on QPR today. Ninteen years ago, a just-appointed Don Howe and a just-signed Ray Wilkins led a QPR to a 3-0 away win at Palace. If QPR get even a point today, they'll have done well.

- Over the years, numerous Crystal Palace players have played for QPR; and some of the other way: Off the cuff: Mark Lazarus; Terry Venables and Ian Evans who were swopped to Palace in 1974 in exchange for an aging Don Rogers. A few months later, QPR, under Dave Sexton tried to buy back Venables. Others: When Venables came to QPR as manager (from Palace, bringing with him coaches Alan Harris and George Graham) they also signed: Burridge, Fenwick, Flangan, Sealy and ex QPRs, Clive Allen, Steve Wicks and Gerry Francis. And then over the years an array of former Palace players have spent some time at QPR.

- With a new man in charge, QPR are a team with new direction and refreshed vigour. A win midweek against Charlton did its best to halt the steady fall away from the top of the table, while also taking the pressure away from Paulo Sousa, the Portuguese legend now in charge at Loftus Road.
- It has so far been a season of inconsistency as, from home they are looking comfortable, with seven wins from ten suggesting as such and 16 goals scored also suggesting that they are not short of confidence going forward. However, away from home they are a completely different proposition, with only one win on record so far.
- Even more of a concern is their goal scoring form on the road, with only two goals in their For column sitting as an impoverished sum against a relatively obese 11 goals conceded.
- Palace, on the other hand, are very much the form team. Three wins out of four and nine goals scored, Neil Warnock's men are full of confidence and will be eager to continue their unbeaten run.
- Team News :
Palace - Alan Lee and James Scowcroft are close to return and are expected to feature next week in the Reserve fixture against Reading, while Danny Butterfield (hamstring) is expected to be out of contention for a third game.
Shaun Derry has recovered from the illness that kept him out of last weekend's match and will by vying for a place in the starting line-up.
QPR - Emmanuel Ledesma (5 yellows - one game) and Fitz Hall (second of three game) are suspended.
Matthew Connolly and Lee Cook remain doubts, with back and knee injuries respectively.
