Gulf Daily QPR praise support of Bahrain fans
-QUEENS Park Rangers (QPR) Football Club have praised the support of their new-found fans in Bahrain.
-Since linking up with shirt sponsors Gulf Air earlier this year, the club has received overwhelming levels of support from the kingdom's people, and has been inundated with best wishes prior to today's mouthwatering Carling Cup fourth round clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
-"Good luck messages have been coming in from all areas of the globe, and we've been really overwhelmed by it all," said QPR Press and public relations manager Ian Taylor.
"The Bahraini people seem to have taken QPR to their hearts since our involvement with Gulf Air, and we're eternally grateful to them."
-After overcoming Premier League opposition in the shape of Aston Villa in round three, "The R's", as they are nicknamed, were drawn against the reigning European and Premiership champions.
-Over 7,000 QPR fans are set to make the long journey to the so-called Theatre of Dreams, as caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth's men attempt to pull-off arguably the greatest scalp in the club's history.
-"It's a massive match," said Ainsworth. "We were excellent against Aston Villa in the last round and we're really looking forward to pitting our wits against arguably the biggest club in the world.
- QPR's Deputy Managing Director, Ali Russell, added: "This is arguably one of the biggest occasions in the club's history. The level of support we've received from our fans in the Gulf has been wonderful." Gulf Daily
