TIME OUT LONDON - WATFORD MINI- PREVIEW Queen's Park Rangers' Gavin Mahon returns to Vicarage Road to take a look at the sinking ship from which he jumped almost a year ago. While his new club sits on the edge of a play-off position, his old outfit is in the thick of a battle to escape the bottom three. The exit of manager Aidy Boothroyd was a surprise for the Watford faithful; though many didn't welcome the decision, it could signal a new era for the Hornets. To give things a much-needed kick start, Jay DeMerit and Leigh Bromby will be in charge of locking together a defence that must no longer give away sloppy goals. Luckily forWatford, Rangers' away form has been something of a struggle all season: Gareth Ainsworth's side have scored just twice on their travels. This will have to change: consistency is essential for a team that wants to compete in the Premier League again.Nick Golding Time Out

There are many, many QPR-Watford links: From on the coaching side: Kenny Jackett and Mike Keen and Glen Roeder and Frank Sibley; to on the playing side, Steve Palmer and Lee Cook and Paul Furlong. And over the years quite a few others who played for both: From Ian Morgan and Tony Currie on down to Danny Shittu and Gavin Mahon and Chris Day. And today's latest loan from Bolton, Helguson is merely the latest (hopefully making more of an impact than Ngone and Foley)
